Shopping and Dining

The pretty market town of Biggar is just over 4 miles away and offers an excellent selection of independent shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, a Co-op, a pharmacy and a delicatessen, all within easy reach.

Biggar is renowned for its annual Hogmanay Bonfire, the Agricultural Show each July and the ‘Biggar Little Festival’ held in October - with a wide range of other events throughout the year. There are many community events held to which everyone is welcome!

Cycling

The nearby Borders town of Peebles offers a wonderful selection of shops, and has a lovely, small theatre. Glentress 7stanes Mountain Bike Trail centre is one of Peebles main attractions, having won multiple awards including 1st place in the top Scottish Trails, awarded by iBikeRide. Glentress hosted the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships and the annual ‘Tour O the Borders’ closed road sportive is a very popular event each September.

The New Lanark World Heritage Site is only a short drive away.  The award-winning visitor centre provides a fantastic opportunity to view life as it would have been lived in a cotton mill village in 18th century Scotland. There are frequently touring exhibitions held at New Lanark and a lovely cafe to enjoy.

For those who wish to explore further afield, Lammerlaw is ideally placed to visit both Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as many Scottish Border towns. Enjoy the Edinburgh Festival, the Royal Highland Show and many attractions that both cities have to offer. There is a bus link to both cities from Biggar and train links from Carstairs or Carluke nearby.  Park and Ride facilities near Edinburgh are proving very popular for guests.
